Welcome to Orange Coast Music Therapy
Orange Coast Music Therapy is a private music therapy practice that provides quality music therapy services to people in need throughout Orange County, California. All our music therapists are board certified which means that they meet or exceed the standards set by the Certification Board for Music Therapists and have passed the national board certification examination. Music therapy sessions are designed to address the needs of each individual and focus on achieving therapeutic goals.

Meet Our Therapists

Karen M. Skipper, MT-BC, NMT Fellow,owner/administrator, is a Board Certified Music Therapist who has maintained a thriving private music therapy practice in Orange County for 25 years.  She is a member of the American Music Therapy Association, a fellow of the Robert F. Unkefer Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy and holds certification with the Certification Board for Music Therapists.  Ms. Skipper has worked with people of many ages with a variety of diagnoses.  She has vast experience with geriatric clients including diagnoses of Alzheimers disease, CVA, Parkinsons disease and depression.  She has also worked with people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, traumatic brain injury, learning disabilities, psychiatric disorders and persons on the autism spectrum. Karen's advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy gives her specialized expertise in the use of music to address neurologic issues such as CVA, Parkinson's disease and traumatic brain injury. Karen is a sought after speaker at educational seminars, conventions, service clubs, support groups and hospitals on a variety of topics relating to music therapy and conditions of the elderly.

Natalie Rodriguez, MSW, MT-BC Natalie Rodriguez,  MT- BC
 received her Associates Degree in Fine Arts at Citrus College, followed by her Bachelors in Psychology at Loyola Marymount University, and a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Southern California. After completing her Equivalency Degree in Music Therapy at Chapman University, she currently uses music as a therapeutic intervention for children in need and elderly with Alzheimers and Dementia. As a current member of the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) Natalie has had two years of clinical experience as a Social Work Intern, during which time she had the opportunity to work with several populations, providing social services and counseling.  Natalie has also had the opportunity to work with several individuals and groups who have diverse needs, in a variety of music therapy settings and is a member of the AMTA (American Music Therapy Association).

Vicki Hurst, MT-BC, is passionate about the use of music in healing.  She specializes in the use of music in combination with yoga to promote physical, mental and spiritual wellness.  Her music and yoga programs can be adapted for any age group from children to geriatrics.Additionally, Vicki uses a variety of musical mediums to help clients, young or old, to achieve therapeutic goals.  She incorporates movement, drumming singing and the use of a variety of instruments to find the appropriate tool to help each individual client.She also has experience in teaching adaptive piano and has maintained an instructional studio for 20 years.
